Ministries - A Place to Get Involved

Adult

Bible Studies: Join Pastor Tim on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. for our Crossways Bible Study. This faith-enriching, life-changing course serves as a "road-map" for an unforgettable journey though the entire Bibles.

Book Club: Regularly meets the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the church Lounge. Contact Ann Russell for a schedule of readings.

Library: Books, devotionals, children's books and videos are available to check out on Sunday mornings or during the week during church office hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00p.m.  The Library Helpers meet Monday morning to shelf books and catalog them.  All adults are welcome!

Office Receptionists: Adult volunteers are welcome to help out in the church office by greeting individuals that come to the office, answering phones, and assisting with church office work for a scheduled 2-3 hour time period.  Let us know if you would like to help.

Young at Heart: Please join us on the third Monday of every month for fellowship, lunch and an inspiring program at noon in the church lounge.

B.R.E.A.D.: Building, Responsibility, Equality, and Dignity. Adults and families are welcome to participate in Christ Lutheran's B.R.E.A.D. team. Our team joins with teams from other Columbus houses of worship to study and act on economic growth, transportation, affordable housing, and other justice issues in central Ohio.

Lutheran Social Service (LSS) Food Pantry: Located at 1460 S. Champion Ave. The Food Pantry distributes food to central Ohio families. Our church is responsible for staffing the pantry on various dates from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

First English Outreach: If you would like to be apart of the mission endeavor to feed the homeless, we serve breakfast on the third and fifth Sundays of the month and we serve dinner on the second Thursday of the month at First English Lutheran Church. We need help with food prep, set up, and serving.

Friday Fellowship Group: This fellowship group and bible study 1) gives us the freedom to discuss God's Word in fellowship amongst other Christians our own age, 2) develop strong social support system and 3) disciple to other Christians in the communities around us. We enjoy refreshments, a discussion type bible study, and social time to get to know one another as fellow Christians. We would love to have you join us. We meet the 3rd Friday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the church lounge. We do not meet June, July and August. We have a picnic in late August.

Friendship Bible Study: This group is for adults with disabilities that meets from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday nights in the church library (204).

Worship Ministries

Altar Guild: Traditionally this is a women's group, but all adults are welcome. The Altar Guild prepares the paraments, communion, altar cloths, banners, and flowers for traditional worship. The group meets the first Monday of each month at
7:00 p.m.

Acolytes: Youth in grades 5 or above and adults can sign up to light the candles and pick up communion glasses in traditional worship.

Bible Bearers & Candle Bearers: Youth in grades 9-12 can sign up to carry the ceremonial Bible and candle in traditional worship on festival Sundays.

Communion Assistants/Lay Readers: Adults may volunteer to assist with communion distribution or reading the scriptures during traditional worship

Contemporary Worship: We welcome adults and school-age children to light candles, serve communion, collect offering, and lead prayers.

Crucifers: Youth in grades 9-12 can sign up to carry the cross in traditional worship on Festival Sundays.

Greeters: Youth, adults, and families can volunteer to greet people as they arrive for worship..

Ushers: Adults can volunteer to pass offering plates and assist greeters in passing out bulletins.

Homebound Communion Visitation: Once a month, members go out from worship to celebrate communion, one-on-one, with those not able to join us for worship.

Women's Ministries

Knitwits: Is a group that meets the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the lounge. Join us for devotions, knitting, fellowship and a light dessert.  We knit prayer shaws for people in need.

Lutheran World Relief Sewing: Join the "quilting bee" every Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall, to create hand tied quilts that are distributed worldwide. No experience is needed, come one come all.

Mary Circle: Meets the second Monday of each month at 11:30 a.m. in the lounge. the ladies meet for lunch(brown bag) with dessert and coffee served by the hostess.

Martha Circle: Meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the church lounge. Ladies enjoy conversation over dessert and coffee prior to starting their bible study and meeting.

Men's Ministries

Dartball Team: Men, come join our dartball team on Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. in the fellowship Hall. We compete against other churches and we are always looking for new faces to join our team.

Men's Softball: Men, dust off your tennis shoes and join your fellow members on our summer softball team for great fun and fellowship

Men's Wednesday Bible Study: Men, join us Wednesdays at 6:30 a.m. in the church lounge for a Bible study. Coffee will be provided.

Men's Bible Study: All men are welcome to join this Bible study on Thursdays at
7:00 a.m. in the church lounge.

Care Ministries

Prayer Chain: Adults who are comfortable praying for others are welcome to participate in our prayer chain. If someone has a prayer request then the telephone tree among members is activated for the specific prayer concern.

Stephen Ministry: Is a ministry by trained, caring lay people through which one of our members reaches out to others in time of need. It is a commitment to caring intentionally for each other one-on-one and to building a Christ-centered, nurturing community.

Youth & Family

Kindergarten through 12th grade and their families are invited to be involved in various areas of this ministry. The high school youth meet regularly for fellowship, service, retreats and go to the National Youth Gathering every three years. Middle school students are involved in Confirmation, fellowship activities, retreats, and more. Youth in K-6 are invited for family fellowship, education, and spiritual growth monthly.
