From the Pastor

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Apostle Paul writes: “I have learned to be content with whatever I have. I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:11-13).

The above is a good word from Paul as we continue our Lenten journey and our focus on stewardship under the theme: ‘Make It Simple: Facing
the Truth’. What is the truth that Paul shares with us as he pens these words from a prison cell? What is this ‘secret’ that keeps him going and gives him an appropriate and eternal perspective on the things of this life?

I believe Paul has discovered what the disciples learn in our gospel lesson for today. In other words, what happens at the intersection
of our question to God…“Will you save us?” and God’s question to us…“Will you trust me?”

Paul has learned to trust the Lord in all circumstances…good and bad that he has asked of God, ‘Will you save me?’ and God has said to Paul, ‘Will you trust me?’ And Paul has spoken in word and deed, ‘Yes Lord, I will trust you!’ May we do the same!

God’s Power and Blessings,
Pastor Tim
